  • Reports to: Front of House Manager
    Department: Front of House
    Pay Range: $11.00 - $16.00 depending on experience

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Customer Service:

    • Greet customers when entering and thank them when leaving the store

      • Smile and make eye contact

    • Communicate respectfully at all times, both verbally and non-verbally

    • Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately

    • Call for back-up as needed so that customers wait as little as possible to be checked out

      • Read the situation

    • Bag customer purchases as needed and ask customers if they need assistance. For those needing assistance, carry out groceries or call for staff help if available

    Daily Operations:

    • Be very familiar with the store layout and product location as to direct customers to appropriate location

    • Become familiar with store policies in order to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to manager on duty or other appropriate staff

    • Assists in the opening and closing of the store by following the appropriate procedures

    • Balance cash drawer at end of shift following established procedures

    • Assists in the maintenance of store front and retail displays, by cleaning and facing shelves.

    • Maintain checking area in clean, orderly condition

    • Stocking shelves as needed

    • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager on duty

    Personal Effectiveness:

    • Reports to work for scheduled shifts, on-time and appropriately uniformed

    • Understands and adheres to organizational and store policies and procedures

    • Learns and adapts to new tasks or situations quickly and cooperatively

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience serving the public

    • Familiarity with natural foods is helpful

    • Accuracy, attention to detail

    • Ability to handle multiple demands

    • Ability to stay calm under pressure

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Required frequently: Standing, bending, reaching, and scooping

    • Required occasionally: Walking, kneeling, squatting, and lifting up to 50lbs

    SCHEDULE

    • Part-time (20 - 32 hours per week) with mornings, closing, and weekends

    • Full-time (32-40 hours per week), with mornings, evenings and weekends, and holidays as needed
